Every downtown needs a good team to make it great, and our town has an amazing group in the Olympia Downtown Alliance. 

The Olympia Downtown Alliance keeps our downtown vibrant and beautiful, markets local businesses in the downtown area, works with government and nonprofits to improve the lives of individuals experiencing homelessness, and channels the downtown business community's voice to compel local and state government action.

PARC Foundation

Release Date: October 5, 2022

In partnership with local Parks and Recreation jurisdictions, the PARC Foundation of Thurston County seeks to create and sustain engaging and educational activities and events for kids, families, and seniors.  Additionally, the Foundation seeks to develop and maintain financial resources to leave a legacy of Parks, Arts, Recreation, and Cultural programs for present and future citizens of Thurston County to enjoy.

Olympia Family Theatre

Release Date: October 29, 2022

The Olympia Family Theatre is a small theatre company that produces plays for the enjoyment of the community. 

One of the plays that were produced was a Latinx version of the Secret Garden. This story focuses on the acting group as they prepared for their big performance. 

The Story of Greene Giving

Release Date: October 1, 2022

Since 2015, Greene Realty Group has partnered with the Community Foundation of South Puget Sound, giving out more than $60,000 to charities in our community.

 

Jim Greene talks about the inspiration behind #GreeneGiving and how his upbringing influenced his outlook today.

Community Story: Firehouse 5

Release Date: February 6, 2023

 

Firefighting isn't just a profession for many in the fire service. It's a way of life. Once they retire, it can be hard to adjust to life without the fire station.

 

That's why a group of retired local firefighters started Firehouse 5, a nonprofit organization that allows retired (and even some active) firefighters to stay connected by working on vintage vehicles from the fire service.

Nisqually Land Trust

The Nisqually Land Trust has been helping preserve the beautiful natural habitat around the Nisqually River Delta since 1989. One of their main goals as an organization is to save the dwindling salmon population from extinction.

 

This video highlights the organization's mission and how they work to help our salmon population every day.

Facing Homelessness

Release Date: May 5, 2014

Solving homelessness can be an intimidating proposition. So much so that most people sometimes give up on attempting to solve the problem.

Facing Homelessness is trying to get citizens engaged in solving this incredible problem by encouraging one thing...just say hello.

 

For more than a decade, the organization has been putting a face to the homeless, humanizing the problem and making people become more connected to finding a solution.

PAWS of King County

Release Date: October 1, 2019

PAWS is people helping cats, dogs, and wild animals go home and thrive – whether a home is the family room or the forest. We do this by rehabilitating orphaned and injured wildlife, sheltering and adopting homeless cats and dogs, and educating the community to inspire compassionate action for animals.

 

Since 1967, PAWS has united more than 130,000 cats and dogs with loving families, cared for more than 140,000 sick, injured, and orphaned wild animals, and made the world a better place for countless others through outreach, education, and advocacy.

Keta Legacy Foundation

Release Date: November 15, 2018

The Keta Legacy Foundation has been protecting our forests since 1968.

 

The organization protects more than 350 acres of forest outside of Bremerton, working with local school districts and universities to help educate children on conserving the environment, and their efforts have been crucial to saving the salmon in the Northwest.

Boys & Girls Club

Release Date: November 2, 2018

Boys & Girls Clubs are incredible organizations that help kids in all communities get a leg up by providing safe spaces to study and connect with other kids.

This video showcases the Boys & Girls Club of Thurston County, an Olympia, Washington club that helps kids keep up their studies in the south Puget Sound area. 

The Story of Anna Myers

Release Date: April 20, 2022

Anna came into our world on August 21, 2005. She was a surprise to her mother Leeann, who was 17 years old at the time she was born. Despite the pressures that surrounded her, Leeann fought through her adversity and was rewarded with a bright and beautiful daughter and best friend.

 

Anna earned her wings far too early on August 18, 2020, after being misled by her friends, causing an accidental overdose while seeking pain relief.

 

This video is her story.
